Jiang Weikang is a professor and director in the Institute of Vibration, Shock & Noise in Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). He received the B. Sc and Ph.D from SJTU in 1982 and 1990 respectively, and M. Sc from Shanghai Institute of Mechanical Engineering in 1987. From 1982 to 1984 he worked in Hudong Shipyard as a marine engineer. From 1990 to 1995 he worked in the Institute of Power Machinery in SJTU as a lecturer, associate professor, deputy director and director respectively.

From 1995 to 1997 he researched noise of vehicle in Isuzu Motor Japan. He returned to SJTU at the end of 1997, and was promoted as a full professor in the Institute of Vibration, Shock & Noise,SJTU. In 2003 he studied the transrapid noise in Germany and Shanghai jointly with Germany experts. He studied underwater noise to protect the sea animals such as dolphin and whale in the University of Southampton as a Distinguished Visiting Fellowship of Royal Academy of Engineering UK in 2011.
He is researching the techniques in analyzing and controlling acoustic noise with their application. He is interested in the techniques in identifying and controlling the noise sources of complicated machineries and structure. He has had more than 140 journal publication and 16 patents. His resent research interest is visualization of sound field, fast-BEM for acoustics, fault diagnosis of machineries, noise reduction of various vehicles and machineries.
